Most print items can be renewed five
times in person or by phone.
Older DVDs and VHS tapes may be renewed twice.
If the item is on hold for another patron, the item cannot be renewed.
Items that are not
renewable: Browsing Collection, New Videos, New DVDs, Equipment,
Chilton’s Manuals, Out-of-County Inter-Library Loans, or Framed Art.
Limits on borrowing: A patron
cannot check out any materials if their fines total $15.00 or more,
or if a patron has 10 or more items out that are overdue.
Items borrowed from another
CLEVNET library are subject
to that library's loan period and fines.
Video Cassette Borrowing
Policy:
Videos
can be returned here or at any CLEVNET Library.
Videos may be returned in the bookdrops.
- There is no limit
to the number of videos a patron may take out.
- Videos can be renewed if there are no holds
on them and if they are not a "New" video. They can be
renewed by phone, in person, or through our website.
- The loan period for all videos is one week.
If returned late, there is an overdue charge of $.10 per video per day and
$1.00 per video per day for "New" videos.
- The patron is responsible for returning the
cassettes in good condition. In the case of loss, theft, or damage,
the patron will be charged the full replacement cost of the cassette plus a
processing fee.
- The library assumes no responsibility for
damage caused to a borrowers videocassette recorder by a library
videocassette.
- Copyright laws limit these videos to home
viewing only and prohibit their duplication.
- Keep videos in a cool, dry place and avoid
storage in direct sunlight or near sources of heat.
- Please rewind videos before returning.
DVD Borrowing Policy:
The
policy is the same as above except:
- DVDs may
be returned in designated dropbox only, located at the back entrance of the
library.
- New and Browser DVDs cannot be renewed.
- The loan period for all DVDs is one week.
- If returned late, there is an overdue charge
of $.10 per DVD per day and $1.00 per DVD per day for New and Browser
DVDs.
- The library assumes no responsibility for
damage caused to a borrower's DVD player by a library DVD.
Holds Policy
To preserve our
patrons' confidentiality, the Burton Public Library has instated a new Holds
Policy. Holds may be picked up by friends or family only if they
have the card of the person placing the hold. A parent or legal guardian
may pick up their minor child's holds items using either the parent's or child's
library card.
Unattended Child Policy
The Burton Public Library now has an Unattended Child Policy. Unlike school librarians, public librarians do not act "in loco parentis" - Latin for "in place of the parent". Our policy states that librarians cannot accept responsibility for the safety and security of unattended minors. Please consider your children's safety if you allow them to visit the Burton Public Library without parental supervision.
